Here’s not something you see everyday! A world class athlete slumming it by playing street ball with a few guys who think they can hoop! I love it! I think that it is important to have confidence in everything you do, but you guys, yes you guys, literally, often take that shit to a whole different level. If I had a quarter for every time I heard a guy say “yea I was All-State/All-American but…” I’d be rich as Donal Trump. There’s nothing wrong with having hopes for yourself and I understand that in the jungle (the court or turf, whichever you chose to battle on) its customary to talk shit to your opponent to undermine their abilities and throw off their game but come on dudes, y’all probably aren’t that good. No disrespect and I’m not hating or anything, but just because you’re the best dude on your block doesn’t mean you’re that deal. Since we live in the age of YouTube and good ole fashioned scouting, don’t you think somebody from some school or some team would’ve hollered at you by now? I’m just saying, but I digress.
After spending over a decade in the league as a bench warmer, with the help of radio station 98.5 “The Sports Hub” Brian Scalabrine issued a challenge to amateur b-ballers of the Boston area: a game of one-on-one against the seasoned NBA vet. Guys all over the Boston area submitted their try-out tapes and hoped for a chance to show their stuff. At the end of the ‘audition period’ Scalabrine played four of the most worthy adviseries and as you can imagine, it wasn’t pretty. Once the fun and games were over the The White Mamba taught them a lesson in Basketball and humility with a staggering score of 44 points over their single digit scores (between all four games). Ouch. Talk about having your ass handed to you.
All arrogance aside, I feel like a lot of guys seem to forget that no matter how shitty an athlete is on the court, the man you’re watching on TV is still a world class athlete! Yes, he might suck compared to Kobe, LeBron and Carmelo but lets be real. These guys are the best, of the best, of the best. Best in state, best in country and best in the world. Do you really think you stand a chance against these guys? I guess these guys did; silly rabbits! You don’t have to take my word for it! Check out the complete story from Yahoo! Sports which includes two videos of the massacre in progress. Enjoy!
