New Video! “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)”, Lupe Fiasco

After releasing his first single from Food and Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album a month or so ago, Lupe Fiasco released a video to accompany his politically sound single.

Ummm, yea… not much to say about this one. I used to love Lupe, I really did, but my love turned into more a bitter disgust once he became all political and started bitching about this war that he’s never served in; now I’ve truly given up. I still love Lupe’s music, but other than that, it’s over (as if I ever had a chance). Either way, I digress.

This dude has joined the likes of Nicki Minaj and jumped down the rabbit hole never to return. I’m not sure who told Lupe that the glowing yellow-ish eyes was a good idea or why at thirty-years-old he thinks it’s okay to hang out with imaginary characters but dude needs a reality check, like now. Maybe I’m the one buggin’ out but what the hell does a blunt-rollin’ Coyote and 40 oz. drinking Alligator have to do with freedom being free? It’s probably me just being a bit too literal or having too high of expectations of this video but this shit had me lost. The rental Lamborghini at the end didn’t help and I still haven’t removed the image of that flower adorned “Army” hoodie Lu decided to step out of the house in. Whatever. Maybe this like many other videos lately has gone over my head and I’m not quite the jeanious I like to think I am. This time around, that’s one L I’m willing to take. Enough of this shit; I’m going to give myself a headache if I dwell on it any longer. Here’s the weird yet strikingly boring video for Lupe Fiasco’s “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)” for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy!
